Testimonials  &  Our "Extended Family"

We are thrilled to have a new addition to our little family,  Now, there are 4 of us, me, my husband Gilbert, LuLu our almost 7 year old and our lovely Lilac Point Himalayan Teeny, a gift from Heaven & Desert Willow.  Actually, Heaven was the name given to her by Theresa and Mel Gorduyn of Desert Willow Dolls.  Gilbert and I wanted to find a companion kitty for LuLu so my goddaughter Alicia offered to help us find the perfect place to find another Himalayan kitten

Now, Alicia and her fiancee live out west and they breed horses and dogs so we trust and respect their suggestions.  We live in New York City where supposedly one can find everything.  However, we were not having much luck finding the right Cattery breeder and the right kitten.  Alicia told me about Desert Willow Dolls asking me to check out their website and look at their Himalayan kittens.  Well, needless to say, it was an awesome experience going through their website!

We filled out the online application and spoke to Theresa several times before deciding which kitten to choose.  The kitties we were looking at were born on March 2010 and they are Pisces, (LuLu is a Virgo) so the signs are compatible.  It was difficult to make a choice because they were all so special & Beautiful.  However, we wanted another female and we picked Heaven, a precious little female Blue Point. Once we made the commitment we started to make concrete plans.  Theresa told me that the kittens must stay with the mother until 10 week old, at the earliest before she would be willing to ship them home.  She then went on  to share that the kittens will be "bullet proof" and that they are "socialized" and were being raised with lots of company, i.e., other litters of kitties and puppies as well as children and the usual household noise and activity.  This is an important point, as they work very hard to get them use to noise which was a blessing to us later!

It's now mid April and we still have time to make proper arrangements.  Gilbert and I were trying to figure the best and safest way to bring Heaven to the Big Apple.  We decided that one of us would fly to NM, pick up the kitty and take a return flight back.  Well, it was me who did just that.  I had to take two flights from here to Albuquerque and two flights back.  It was kinda of hectic, but the reward was worth it.  We didn't want the kitty to fly alone.  Mel and darling Julianna (Theresa's Husband and daughter) met me with Heaven in hand at the Airport and it was "love at first sight".  Mel and Juliana were lovely, helpful and sincere. I wished at the time I had more time to spend with them.  I've never met Theresa in person because she had commitments that she could not get out of that day, but I feel like I've known her for years!  We speak on the phone often and email and I keep her informed about how well things are going.

Teeny (Heaven) is such a delight, she is funny, fearless and lovable. LuLu and she are getting on better and better each day, it was a little tenuous at first because LuLu (being an only cat) was not used to sharing attention or her favorite spots or toys.

Yesterday was memorable because we brought Teeny to the vet at 9:30AM to have her spayed, we picked her up at 4:30PM, the same day.  When arrived to pick her up the vet came out holding her and put her down to show us that she was okay.  Well, there was a pretty large bull dog right there off leash and in the room at the same time they set her down.  Teeny wobbling a bit from the anesthesia, walked over to the dog, sniffed her and walked away. Now, that is fearless!  Yes, she is bullet proof!  We absolutely adore her and she is perfect, she used the kitty litter immediately and slept with us from day one.  Thank you Theresa, Mel and Juliana for your good work.

Our DW Aussie Bo is absolutely amazing and will graduate novice obedience in 2 weeks. He is going to start Rally in August and Agility in September. Nagus started agility last week and is doing great. He will trial for his ScH B in November.

Raz, our DW Kitten is a total spaz and keeps us very entertained. He loves his dogs and his Lily cat. Although, Raz and Bo conspire to get into trouble. Raz retrieves items off of the counter and they end up in Bo's mouth. We have to lock him up when I cook salmon or it magically disappears!! He is also the most loving, purring, snuggling cat. It blows us away at how good he uses the litter box (no mishaps) and doesn't bat an eye at the kitty door. Mark laughs about how clean he is. He is always grooming himself, Bo, and Lily. We have NEVER had a male cat that groomed himself. He also loves to be brushed. He has earned the name Mr. Poopy Paws because he will step in his poop in an effort to bury it. He is such a happy little guy. When our CYFD placement worker comes by, she tries to steal him. Needless to say, he is a charmer. (Posted on Facebook)

Oh My Goodness

We are in trouble with this kitty. He is a very cool cat! We named him Roshan (Row shaun) and Roe for short.
He is held or played with by all of us through out the day and he knows he is special. He loves all the attention so much that he wants to be where ever we are. He is not hiding at all. He is using his litter box and seems to like where it is! Yeah. I am using the same training techniques on him that I do on the dogs with just a little variaton and he is just taking it in stride. I only have to tell him once or twice before he lays down and stays.
Mr Thomas thought he needed a few extra toys so he had to go to Petsmart :-) I think he has officially been won over! Thank you so much for this blessing we are vey greatful and so happy with this new addition.

PS. My niece and nephew are here this week and my niece has wanted a cat since she was 2yrs old she is just about to turn 8 and she is crazy about this cat. She keeps telling me she feels like she is living in a dream! So cute.

My husband and I are blessed to have a Persian named "Winter." We have had him for about two months and we are in love. He is everything we've ever dreamed of and more. He is healthy and happy thanks to Desert Willow's Theresa . The best part about this kitten is that he became our family instantly. We have two very spoiled chihuahuas and Winter was able to become one of the gang almost instantly. He was not intimidated by the two little bossy dogs and now they all lay together while napping during the day. Winter picked us and became attached to us very quickly. We love him and are grateful to be his people.

My name is Shaila Bernard and a Kitten Parent of Desert Willow Cattery.
As far back as I can remember, 5 years old - - almost thirty two years ago I have loved Persian cats.
In 1995, after landing a job in New Hampshire I found a breeder of Persian cats and she had a shaded silver kitten. And he was such a sweetie! I made him into the most loved and spoiled indoor kitten as all of us know and love our babies! I spared no expense when it came to buying teepee's for him to sleep in - - though he often slept in my bed of course! I even checked with vets and breeders to ensure he had the best foods and treats! In those times it was IAMS.
When he was 12 years old he began to drink water constantly. He would still eat and purr and want to be loved but he was always thirsty. The vets all said he was just thirsty and it was nothing to worry about, so I didn’t worry about it. A few months later he started throwing up. Again worried I took him to my Vet and was reassured that this was only hair balls; after all, he was a long haired cat?  And even though there was no hair in what was coming up, they insisted that it was hairballs.
Eventually, he started to lose weight, and would not eat anything and he couldn't’ even use his litter box any longer.  Again I sought out answers through several vets, all suggesting fluids once a week and he could stay alive - -but now the blood work was showing he had kidney failure and it was only a matter of time.  After a two attempt of trying to give him fluids and understanding how much love he had brought me and how much I treasured our sweet years together, I knew how much pain he was in, it was obvious.  I knew in my heart it was time to let him go. I contacted a vet she agreed it was time. So I had his life terminated along with a big piece of my heart.
In my search for another friend to fill this void, I contacted Theresa at Desert Willow and told her my story. She told me about the fillers now in cat & dog foods and how so much is coming in from outside of the country making it impossible to monitor quality.  She also educated me on how bad corn products were for our animals now.  Cancer growing ingredients now wrapped around pretty packaging is the NUMBER 1 Killer of Dogs and Cats!
Securely, I purchased two kittens from Desert Willow Cattery, a Blue Point and a Seal Point. And they get nothing but Life’s Abundance - - cat food, treats and moist food. They also get a spoonful of yogurt a day in the evening –they LOVE it!  They are healthy kittens, happy, and SLIGHTLY spoiled with love.  They have two toy boxes and three or four gyms to exercise on.  My heart is full of joy once again.
I have another cat Sabrina who was a friend to the one I lost.  ONE month after putting down my other cat, Sabrina started going into excessive thirst and throwing up. She will eat some days and others she does not eat at all. The blood tests showed the same systems with her.  I expect by summer I will have to euthanize her also - - she ate the same food until recently. Eventually she will stop eating or not go to the litter box just as my other did.  The damage is already done and it’s only a matter of time now.  How horrible that PET FOOD COMPANIES do not have our “little 4 legged family members” best interest in their hearts as they make food that is suppose to sustain them.  How tragic to learn how little my animals mean to this big pet food companies.  They teach us to trust them through their meaningful commercials with flowery words that now mean nothing to me!   Watch out because these foods are still on the shelves!
My kittens will stay on Life’s Abundance as I don’t want to see another pet that I love go through pain of kidney failure or see their system shut down due to food I BELIEVED was safe and fed it to them myself!
Theresa-- thank you for taking time to “teach” on proper care & nutrition for our animals from a holistic point of view.  I know you believe a healthy balance of both Modern & Holistic medicine is important, but the eye opening side of saying “NO” to our vets is very helpful for future issues that can arise too.  Also for spending so much time on the education of proper nutrition, vaccinations and so many other issues that we can do safely that will not harm them as too many “DRUGS” do for our beloved pets.
My heart rests knowing my current Cats will live long happy lives fill of contentment and happiness.  I know they should live comfortably into their early 20’s!   And when it’s their time to go because of a long lived healthy life, they will pass on dreaming of chasing birds into eternity.

As I write this testimonial on Christmas Eve, I cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are for our beautiful baby boy for Christmas!

You see we had lost one of our dogs, Boo, when he ran away from the pet sitters while we were away on vacation in November. His sister, Grace had been very depressed and lonely since his disappearance and still having hope of his return, we decided it was time to get a kitty.  We both love cats and had waited to get one having the two dogs and getting settled into a new home and area of living.  We both knew Grace needed some companionship with Boo's absence.
We spent hours looking online for "the right kitty."  Neither of us had ever purchased an animal online and were skeptical about the process.  We emailed a number of prospects, but many of them either didn't respond or we just did not have a good feeling about the breeder.
Then we found Theresa and the two kittens she had available that were to be ready by Christmas!  We emailed Theresa and immediately she had us talking with her on the phone.  She put us at ease right away with the process of buying our baby online.  Although we had been open to buying a kitty long distance, we really wanted it to be close enough for us to drive to pick up.  We could not stand the idea of this precious little critter flying all alone to us.  Theresa's place was about 7 hours from us so we decided it was possible to just make a weekend of it and pick the kitty up if we decided on one we felt was right for us.  Theresa once again put us at ease sharing that she could meet us part of the way when our kitty was ready to come home!  Now we just had to decide on which one!
We put our deposit down for one of the kittens and shared with Theresa what personality we were looking for in a kitten/cat.  Theresa told us about "Smokie" the little male and his precious little sister!  We all agreed it sounded like "Smokie" was meant for us.
Then another tragedy occurred.  Our Grace died very unexpectantly on December 3, 2006.  I cannot tell you how supportive Theresa was during this very difficult time.
I truly believe Grace took care of her mom once again.  I am not sure if we would have decided on getting another animal so quickly after losing both our babies so tragically, if we had not already picked him out and committed ourselves to adopting him.
We met Theresa last Friday night, December 15th, to pick up our "Belen" (aka Smokie) and bring him home.  The moment we laid eyes on him, we knew he was meant to be part of our family!  He already was!  Theresa was so wonderful!  She was extremely helpful in giving us some of the food he had been eating, letting us purchase(very reduced rate!) his little kennel he had traveled to meet us in so he could feel safe and comfortable with something familiar, having a small little box for his litter for the trip home, and prior to meeting us, specifically emailing us about his diet, litter, etc. She really helped us make his transition home enjoyable for us all!
We had chosen the name Belen because that is where he came from.  We were shocked to find out later the evening we picked him up that Belen means Bethlehem in Spanish.  His name could not have been more appropriate given the Season!
So, how has it been since he came home?  Amazing!  I want to personally thank Theresa's children for helping Belen become the most relaxed, flexible kitty I have every met!  He loves being cuddled like a little baby!  Theresa told us that came from him being wrapped up like a baby and carried around by her daughter!  He is the smartest, most curious little guy ever, while at the same time soooooooooooooo loving!  He is constantly trying to bite my cheek, nose, mouth anything he can get close to in order to show his affection!!!!  Those little baby teeth are like needles, but I love them so much!  He has also started doing yoga each morning with Summer!  He especially loves down dog and lying under or on her as she holds various poses!  As I type this, he is lying right next to me on a stack of pillows like our little prince on his throne!
In our season of darkness from our loses, we are eternally grateful for the light this little angel has bestowed on our spirits!  Thank you Gracie Girl and thank you so much Theresa for brightening our lives this Christmas Season!

Peace and gratitude,

Tonya, Summer, and Baby Boy Belen!
